A clearer next step
Which service do I need?
Choose the situation closest to yours. We’ll suggest a starting point and the details to gather for a conversation with JSA.

Renovation, demolition, or repairs
Start with the materials the work will disturb.
An asbestos SurveyAn organized inspection of the areas and materials within an agreed scope. A limited survey does not automatically cover the entire building. and an evaluation of affected paint or coatings may belong in your scope. A general home inspection does not answer every material-testing question.
Have these details ready
- Work areas and materials being removed
- Building use, approximate age, and existing reports
- Project address and construction schedule
Water damage, visible growth, or a musty smell
Start with a mold and moisture assessment.
The useful question is where the moisture is coming from and what it has affected. Sampling is selected when it answers a specific question; visible mold does not always need testing.
Have these details ready
- Leak history and repairs already made
- Affected rooms, photographs, and recurring odors
- Materials that may be opened during repairs
Buying, leasing, or managing a property
Start with a review of your specific concerns.
Share existing reports, observed conditions, and planned improvements. JSA can discuss a targeted building-material, moisture, or drinking-water assessment. These services do not replace a general property inspection or a Phase I environmental site assessment.
Have these details ready
- Transaction or lease deadlines
- Existing reports and questions from your team
- Planned changes to the property
Drinking-water concerns
Start with the outlet and the reason for testing.
Lead-in-water testing is different from paint or dust testing. For a licensed child care center, review AB 2370 coverage and sampling requirements with the center’s records.
Have these details ready
- Building use and outlet locations
- Prior sampling dates and results
- Plumbing changes and the program requiring testing
Checking conditions after cleanup or abatement
Start with the agreed clearance or verification requirements.
The original ScopeThe work included in the assignment: areas, materials, methods, reporting, and any exclusions., type of work, and applicable criteria determine what is checked. A material test alone is not a clearance examination.
Have these details ready
- Original survey and cleanup or abatement scope
- Contractor records and affected areas
- Who needs the closeout documentation
Something else / I’m not sure
Start with a conversation.
Describe the property, concern, and decision you need to make. You do not need to select a test before speaking with JSA.
Have these details ready
- Project location and building use
- What you noticed or what you want to change
- Any deadline or request from another project professional
